Caching your calls, sports data API

Caching your calls

Call for what changes; keep what does not.

  • Finished results, line-ups and timelines do not change once a match is over. Keep them.
  • Competitions, courses and tracks change rarely. Fetch them daily.
  • Live scores change constantly, and are stored our side for 10 seconds. Asking more often returns the same copy.
  • Every answer carries Cache-Control with how long it stays fresh, so an HTTP cache in front of your code does the right thing by itself.
